Tommy’s Place – A Vacation Home For Children With Cancer
Tommy’s Place
It’s a beautiful new vacation spot in Falmouth, but only the most special, the most awesome people get to experience this place.
Located in Falmouth at the former Elm Arch Inn, is now a new vacation destination. The gorgeous home is renovated and painted and it has a new name, “Tommy’s Place.” “Tommy’s Place” is a dream vacation home….for kids who have cancer.
Tim O’Connell, the founder of “Tommy’s Place,” said that creating this dream vacation spot has been a 14- year dream in the making. It all began when he had the opportunity to donate a trip to Martha’s Vineyard to a little 8 year old boy named Grifyn. Sadly Grifyn passed away shortly after that trip, but a fire was lit inside of Tim’s heart and he wanted to do more for kids like Gryfin.
“Tommy’s Place” finally opened their doors last week and welcomed their first guest…a child who the whole state of MA has fallen in love with…shoot the whole world has falling in love with him. Quinn Waters, also known as the Mighty Quinn. Quinn is battling brain cancer for a second time. As a child, and family, who’s going through cancer heading to Falmouth for a MUCH needed vacation was JUST what they needed.
When you walk into this HUGE 11- room home, each room has a theme. There’s a Bruins room, movie theater room, board games, a space room, an arts and crafts room, and of course a music room with instruments and karaoke.
Every single thing in this house has been donated by people from around the area. The asphalt, the paint, the items in the rooms, the beds. You name it, it was donated.
And the 50 families who will be visiting Tommy’s place this year don’t pay a penny for this vacation. They hope to keep Tommy’s place year around and if you want to be one of the people who donates $1 or $100,000 visit tommysplace.org
