Boston BeerWorks has poured its last beer, a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the brewery chain will remain closed permanently.

Hoping to close only temporarily at Governor Baker’s order back in March of 2020, the six BeerWorks locations in Boston, Salem, Lowell, Hingham and Framingham, never reopened their doors.

“Sad to say but we’ve brewed and served our last beers,” said company president Joe Slesar in a statement posted on the Boston Beer Works website.

“We’ve decided to pack it in due to the pandemic and all that. We will miss you and the many years of fun we had bringing you fresh local beer and food. BEERWORKS was proud to serve you.”

Boston BeerWorks first opened its doors in 1992, according to BrewBound.com.
