Meet Maddi Ryan from Methuen, MA
“In my music, the ultimate goal is to always resonate with my listener by delivering genuine emotion and a relatable, truthful realism drawn from personal experiences and the world as I see it.” Maddi Ryan words speak her truth. She has a way of connecting her emotions, her experiences and feelings with those whom her music falls upon. Whether in a club, in headphones, in speakers, Ryan’s lyrics and music link her feelings with ours.
Maddi’s voice is smooth as satin, which certainly helps get her message delivered. Her vocals make you want to listen. Closely. In her latest offereing, “Wilderness,” you can’t help but wonder what led her to the “woods” in the first place, where she eventually lost her way. She explains below. Certainly, we’ve all been there, metaphorically and literally; having ventured out, only to wonder how to find our way back, out, or to the next path.
Singing was a part of this artist’s life since a very young age. Her hard work, talent and tenacity has not only kept Maddi Ryan in the game, but it’s made her an in-demand performer in New England. Her musical path has taken her from coffee table performances to opening for national acts, like The Cadillac Three, and earning New England Country Music Award nominations for Country Act of the Year (2 years).

Of this original composition, Maddi says, “This song is about not knowing your path and trying to figure it out. I wrote it during quarantine because I was just about to graduate college but the world was still shut down so I felt pretty lost for a while on what my next steps were going to be.”

- What lead you to music: I’ve always been drawn to music ever since I was little. I guess it’s just the way that music makes me feel when I sing or play it and how it’s such a beautiful form of emotional expression.
- How old when you started: I’ve been singing ever since I can remember! When I was little I used to put on “concerts” where I’d stand on my coffee table and make my family hold flashlights for spotlights. The rest is history!
- First country song you learned: “Crazy” by Patsy Cline
- Instruments played: I currently play just guitar at shows, but I also play Ukulele, Mandolin, and am learning lap steel and drums!
- How would you describe your sound: I would describe my sound as pop/country!
- Who inspires you: Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Johnny Cash, Phoebe Bridgers, Sigrid, Maisie Peters, Julia Michaels

- Day Job: I’m proud to say that music is my full time job!
- Most proud moment: Finally getting my entire EP, fully mixed and mastered, in hand. I feel, even if nobody ever heard it, that it’s the culmination of all my hard work and I’m proud of that.
- Crazy thing that happened in your music career: I got the opportunity to perform at the 2020 Vegas Music Summit in Las Vegas – that was a lot of fun!
- Other things you like to do: – I like to workout regularly – I find it really helps with stress and anxiety. Travel! We recently got back from a trip to Nashville where my band and I played a few shows. It was really fun because we drove down to Nashville so we got to see some beautiful places along the way in addition to playing some awesome shows!Drink ice coffee from Dunkin’ all year round, wander aimlessly around Target, and binge new Netflix shows in one sitting
- Fun facts: – I have the same birthday as Johnny Cash, February 26th! – I have a dog (Cooper) and 2 hamsters (Patricia and Ethel) Zombie movies are my favorite any time of year. – I graduated from Boston University Magna Cum Laude
