24 Years Ago Shania Released Her Best-Selling Iconic Album ‘Come On Over’
Can 40 million people be wrong?
Shania Twain got it right back in 1997. On this day, 24 years ago, the barrier-breaker country pop queen released what became the best selling album by a female in country music, ever. Come On Over set the world on fire, selling over 40 million units, and went on to become the best-selling country album, best-selling studio album by a female artist and best selling album by a Canadian. Btw, it’s also the 9th all-time best selling album in the USA, and the world!
Shania invited her fellow female artists to “let’s go girls,” and many set on a path to follow the icon. From Taylor Swift to Carrie Underwood, many of our contemporary female country artists site Twain as a major influence.
Taylor showed Shania the love recently in a TikTok challenge
1997’s Come On Over gave us 11 hits off the 16 track album!
