Next year’s Super Bowl will mark 20 years since a country act performed at the halftime show.
Flash back to 2003 when Shania Twain captivated the crowd in San Diego, where The Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers met for Super Bowl XXXVII. Yup, it’s been that long. (BTW The Bucks slayed the Raiders) And it wasn’t even a fully country show. The Chicks performed a gorgeous version of the National Anthem before the show. And hitting the stage for the halftime show was Shania Twain, No Doubt (Gwen Stefani’s group) and Sting made a special guest performance.
This little time travel trip only begs the question, why in the world hasn’t there be one other country act on that stage since?
Ok, here’s another question, which country act do you think should represent, if ever given the chance? Which artist could engage and entertain better than any other? Let’s hope the powers-that-be are listening to our plea. Bring back country to the NFL!
Oh, one for thing, NFL, please let Mickey Guyton sing the National Anthem every year!
Who would you love to see on the stage next year? Carrie? Luke Bryan or Luke Combs? Miranda Lambert? Garth Brooks? Eric Church? Kenny? If Kenny Chesney hosted, I would imagine it would be like one giant tailgate party.
