Women In Country Music: MacKenzie Porter
MacKenzie Porter is a Canadian country singer, songwriter, and actress. Most recently MacKenzie is featured on Dustin Lynch’s number one song “Thinking ‘Bout You.” MacKenzie has a new single “Pick Up” out now!
MacKenzie was raised on a cattle and bison ranch in Alberta, Canada. She started playing instruments when she was just four years old. MacKenzie and her brother formed a family band and toured around Canada. Her brother, Kalan Porter, won Canadian Idol in 2004!
In addition to having a beautiful voice, MacKenzie is also an actress. She won the Best Actress in Alberta Award for her performance in the movie “The Other Woman.” MacKenzie has been in many films and TV shows including Supernatural, and Dinosapien. MacKenzie has opened for country stars like Kenney Chesney, Doc Walker, and Gene Simmons.
In 2012 she released her debut single “I wish I’d known.” In 2018 she signed a record deal with Big Loud in Nashville. In 2020 MacKenzie released her debut American EP, Drinkin’ Songs: The Collection, which included her three biggest songs “About you,” “Seeing Other People,” and “These Days.”
