Ayla's Gender Reveal

Hi guys, Ayla Brown here and we know the gender of our baby!!

My husband and I learned the gender of our little one during the 19-week ultrasound. Did you know that women can learn the gender of their babies with a blood test as early as 7 weeks pregnant? Rob and I wanted to wait until the ultrasound where we could see the "baby parts" on the screen. But the wait was worth it!

For months, Rob and I had our predictions. I always felt like I was carrying a boy. But then when we went on vacation in the beginning of March and I felt like maybe the baby growing inside me was actually a girl! I was seeing pink everywhere and thinking, "It's a girl!" Rob has always believed it was a boy. When the ultrasound technician performed the 19-week ultrasound, we were blown away!

I'll never forget the moment when the technician said, "Okay, I'm at the part of the baby's body where I can tell you if you're having a boy or a girl. Do you want to know?" I already had a face full of tears when we said, "YES! Please tell us!"

There is so much thought and pressure when it comes to naming your baby. Whether it's a human baby or a fur baby. The name you choose will follow them for life. Country music fans can delight in 13 of the most popular country baby names here, according to The Bump. If you are thinking this list has to include map names like Montana or Dallas, there may be one or two, but the category doesn't dominate. The Bump is a pregnancy, parenting and baby website and they offer these names as suggestions of country life, like, "that sweet smell you only get from rural countryside’s freshly mown grass or that delicate scent off baby’s head." Classic American names with a "ranch edge" rule this collection, below. Here are 13 popular country baby names for your little buckaroo!

Some country stars are in on the trend. Luke Bryan and his wife Nicole have baby Tex. Luke Bryan's sons are named Bo and Tatum. Chris Janson's has a son named Jesse Bo and a daughter, Georgia. I'd say that's pretty dang country. You get the idea. These names have a cowboy/cowgirl feel to them. Rugged guy names, classic girl names. Jon Pardi and his wife summer honored his favorite singer, Elvis, by naming their first born, a little girl, Presley. Recently, I shared with you that people are now naming babies after the TV show, Yellowstone. There are some good ones for consideration there, too!

Country fans can revel in this list of crowd-pleasing names. See if one of your favorites is on the list. Here are 13 popular country baby names for your little buckaroo!

1.Landon

Such a strong, ranch-hand kind of name. I think of Michael Landon, the actor who starred in Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza. Fun fact, Michael Landon's daughter, Jen Landon plays Teeter on the hit western series Yellowstone.

2. Scarlett

Scarlett was the name of one of the lead characters in the popular show, Nashville. The role of singer/songwriter Scarlett O'Connor was played by actress Claire Bowen from 20112-2018. Clare.  Did you know that in 2014, the Zac Brown Band released a live version of their hit, "Free" with a segue into Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic" that featured Clare Bowen on vocals. Come to think of it, Clare is kind of a country name too!

4. Layla

According to letslearnslang.com, the name Layla is associated with" beauty, passion, and mystery. In many cultures, the name has been used to represent the night and all of its secrets." Certainly seems like a fitting cowgirl name. Plus it's a really great song from Derek and the Dominos (Eric Clapton).

5. Jacob

He's not a cowboy or a country star but he will forever be a wolf! Also, he dated a very famous country turned pop star...Taylor Swift. Remember the character Jacob Black from the Twilight series? This Jacob was played by actor and heartthrob Taylor Lautner.

6. Harper

Babynames.com says the name Harper comes from the Old English word "hearpere," which means "harp player" or "minstrel." The name was given to those who played the harp for a living. It is considered gender neutral.  The most famous Harper I found is the noted author and Pulitzer Prize winning,  Harper Lee,  best known for her novel "To Kill a Mockingbird."  Hey, remember the character Harper Finkle from Wizards of Waverly Place.

7. Samuel

There's something very country about the name Samuel, or Sam. Could it be the beer? Perhaps. Samuel Adams, first known as an American Revolution politician, leader of the Massachusetts “radicals,” and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Most recently famous for the beer that bares his name. Actor Sam Elliot has played many a cowboy, most recently in Yellowstone's prequel (also starring Tim McGraw) 1883.

8. Savannah

According to mom.com, the name Savannah means "southerner, and perhaps salt.Savannah is a historic city in Georgia, often called the "hostess city," the oldest city in the state." Shooter Jennings (son of Waylon) wrote and recorded a song called "Sweet Savannah." The Today Show TV host and lawyer, Savannah Guthrie is likely the famous Savannah.

9. Hunter

Such a country name, right? There's Hunter Girl from American Idol, and there's Hunter Hayes the country star of "Wanted" fame.

10. Josephine

You can just picture watching an old western on tv and hearing the name of one of the daughter's being called..."Josephine, get in the house, there's a storm a-brewin'" Ok, maybe it's just me. How's this for country... (Wikipedia) Josephine Sarah "Sadie" Earp was the common-law wife of Wyatt Earp, a famed Old West lawman and gambler. Yup that'll do.

Verywellfamily.com says "Caleb is a Hebrew name that means “faithful,” “whole-hearted,” “bold,” or “brave. Brave and strong, that seems like a great cowboy name. Caleb Rivers is a character in Pretty Little Liars, a television series on ABC Family. He is played by actor Tyler Blackburn.

12. Madeline

The name Madeline is girl's name of English origin meaning "high tower or woman from Magdala" (nameberry.com). The old-fashioned name has been hugely popular again, since the 1990s. The most famous Madeline comes from the children's books of Ludwig Bemelmans starring "the sprightly French school girl."
