Here are some basic things, the City of Boston suggests in dealing with the weather, and trying to stay cool in Boston and beat the heat:
- Keep hydrated (avoid caffeinated, sugary beverages and alcohol)
- Stay indoors, if possible
- Wear appropriate clothing, and sunscreen (light weight, loose and light colored clothing works best)
- If you have to be outside, take breaks in cool, shady areas
- Watch out for those at high risk, like infants, children, people over 65, the ill and people on certain medications
- Inside your house, close your curtains and shades to keep sun out
