Sports betting Passes the Massachusetts Legislature
Massachusetts has reached an agreement to allow sports betting.
House and Senate negotiators were ‘far apart on the proposal less than two weeks ago, Speaker Mariano said. Collegiate sports wagering in addition to professional sports was one of the biggest issues.
House Speaker Ron Mariano tweeted early Monday that the Sports Betting Conference Committee had reached an agreement on legislation that would allow sports betting in Massachusetts.
According to Speaker Mariano’s tweet, the legislation allows for wagering on both professional and collegiate sports in Massachusetts.
The Speaker expressed his gratitude to other legislators for recognizing the ‘extraordinary economic opportunity that legalized sports betting offers.’
This bill has been a long time coming and will add significant revenue to a lot of Massachusetts businesses.
