Loretta Lynn Is Laid To Rest At Her Ranch
=Loretta Lynn was laid to rest at her family cemetery on her ranch grounds in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee on Friday (10/7). Close to 100 guests were in attendence for a private graveside burial service. Loretta passed away at age 90 on Tuesday (10/4).
Around 11 am CT, Lynn was transported from the mansion to the family cemetery in a black hearse and a handful of fans were at the property gate to lay flowers and watch the black hearse. The hearse was led led by the Humphreys County sheriff and was followed by a train of vehicles with loved ones inside.
One fan told Nashville TV station WKRN that it was “Pretty surreal, pretty sad.” Pat Berger drove from North Dakota to be there, and tears rolled down her cheeks as the hearse drove by. She said tearfully, “Never thought I’d be here for this, never expected it.”
Another fan told the only Nashville TV station allowed to be there, “It’s just humbling. My heart is hurt, but it’s very humbling just to be here, yes, very surreal.”
The Tennessean confirmed that Lynn herself left instructions for her funeral ceremonies, including plans for a large memorial to which fans will be invited. Her Nashville family representative told the newspaper, “A public memorial is being planned. The family had a private ceremony Friday with no other details available to share at this time.”
She also said that details about the public ceremony would be released soon.
Many country superstars have paid tribute to Loretta in the last week, including Keith Urban, who sang two of Lynn’s classics in honor of the country legend and his friend in concert in Nashville on Friday night (10/7). He started singing Lynn’s “Blue Kentucky Girl” and then “You’re Looking At Country.” During the performance, he shared images of Lynn, including one of him with the country legend.
