Luke Combs And Keith Urban’s Wives Share A Special Connection
Keith Urban surprised the packed Nashville crowd on Friday night (10/2) by welcoming to his concert stage Luke Combs, who sang his song “When It Rains It Pours,” he then revealed a fact about both of their wives, whose names are Nicole.
Keith said on stage, “I wanna say two things about Luke; first of all, you know we’ve got a lot in common, but our wives are Nicole.” Luke says, “Very true, very true,” Urban then asks, “Is it true that she’s named after her?” and Combs confirms, “It is true.” Keith tells the crowd, “So, his wife Nicole is named after my wife Nicole. Is she here?” Luke replies, “Too tired, baby tired, a four-month-old baby, yeah.” Urban then says, “I want to say the second thing that this guy is touring everywhere right now, and this is his weekend off, and here he is playing Bridgestone,” the guys then hug.
Urban then says before the two launch into “Raise ‘Em Up, “Because Eric Church ain’t here, Luke is.”
Keith also paid tribute to country icon Loretta Lynn who passed away on Tuesday (10/4) at age 90. He started singing Lynn’s “Blue Kentucky Girl” and then Loretta’s “You’re Looking At Country.” During the performance, he shared images of Lynn, including one of him with the country legend.
Loretta released “Blue Kentucky Girl ” in 1965, which went top 10 on the country chart then. Emmylou Harris also released the song in 1979. “You’re Lookin’ At Country” was released in 1971 from the album of the same name. She said of the song that charted top five at the time, “I had to write ‘You’re Lookin’ At Country’ as a love song, or it wouldn’t sell. But it wasn’t a love song. I got the idea from looking at my land. I wanted to write what I saw.”
Nicole Kidman posted to Instagram after Keith’s show in Nashville, “On tour backstage Nashville, Tennessee.”
