Christina Applegate Is Awesome – Yup, That’s the Headline
Christina Applegate is awesome. Her world rapidly changed since disclosing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in the Spring of 2021. She made her first public appearance since that diagnosis this past Monday when she was honored with a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame. Christina gave a speech full of emotion and gratefulness and honesty and humor.
Katey Sagal, who played her mother Peg on Married With Children assisted her at the podium, helping Christina keep her balance throughout her speech. She gave love to her fans and industry coworkers, thanking them for their support throughout her career and especially now as she tackles the daily challenges brought on by MS. She gave the highest of love to her daughter Sadie, saying “You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and smart and interesting. I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school…thank you for standing by me through all of this.”
Given all she is (and has been) going through it would be easy to be melancholy, moody, or downright grumpy – but Christina was anything but. While she currently has a hard time standing for extended periods of time, she stood with pride and demanded the attention of every person in the crowd who were hanging on her every word.
I watched her speech and it served as a remarkable reminder that no matter what is going on in our lives, the power of positivity is pretty damn cool.
The final season of Christina Applegate’s show Dead To Me streams on Netflix beginning November 17th.
