Authorities are warning Massachusetts residents to stay off frozen bodies of water after a man fell through the ice at Winter Pond in Winchester.
The man was trapped in the middle of the pond in frigid water over 10 feet deep for 15 minutes as an emergency team inched their way onto the ice using a sled. The ice was too thin to support rescuers weight any other way and the victim was too far from shore to throw a line to.
The man was hospitalized where he is currently being treated.
