Jimmie Allen Is ‘Humbled’ To Perform at MusiCares Persons Of The Year
Jimmie Allen is slated to perform at this year’s GRAMMY Person of the Year event, honoring Smokey Robinson and Berry Gordy. Both MusiCares and Jimmie posted to Instagram, “No bad days ahead knowing we’ll be reunited with GRAMMY-nominated artist @jimmieallen at #PersonsOfTheYear. Tune in to #MusiCares social this Friday night for red-carpet looks, backstage moments, and more.”
Allen posted a week ago to his Instagram when it was announced he would perform at the tribute. He wrote, “I’m humbled to be performing at the @MusiCares 2023 #PersonsoftheYear gala, honoring the legendary Motown founder and GRAMMY Award nominee Berry Gordy, and GRAMMY Award winner and seven-time GRAMMY Award nominee @smokeyrobinson.”
Many of Jimmie’s fans reacted to the post. One fan wrote, “Hell yeah! We love you in Delaware, of course.” Another fan commented, “Dope to see @jimmieallen always doing it bigger than the day before. Apex Life to the fullest.” Actress and musician Rita Wilson responded to Allen’s post, “Can’t wait to give you a hug! I’m humbled to be performing too. I get it!”

Allen was nominated for the all-genre Best New Artist at last year’s 2022 GRAMMY Awards. During an interview with grammy.com, he said at the time, “My overall plan was, I’m never gonna change the style of music I do, but in order to reach people that don’t listen to country music, you’ve kind of got to go where they are. It’s been cool to see it executed and kind of see everything coming together.” Olivia Rodrigo won the Best New Artist award in 2022.
Last Summer, Allen announced the tracklist for his upcoming album Tulip Drive, and one of the tracks on the album is a duet with Jennifer Lopez. The song, a bonus track, is called “on my way.” he said of the album, released in June of 2022, “This is the first [album] where I chose to write songs about my own personal experiences, thoughts, and hopes.”
