David Ortiz Named Grand Marshal of 127th Boston Marathon

Author Jackson Blue
March 31st 2:21 PM

How cool did Big Papi look walking out on the field at opening day at Fenway? When I see David Ortiz I’m filled with a jolt of hometown pride, so this is very welcome news.

The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) has announced that David Ortiz, three-time World Series champion and Hall of Famer, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 127th Boston Marathon. Ortiz will lead the field of participants along the course, ceremonially guiding the runners from Hopkinton to the finish line in Boston on April 17. Before Patriots’ Day, Ortiz will receive the Patriots’ Award in the run-up to the race.

The marathon organizers highlighted Ortiz’s pivotal role in unifying Boston in the aftermath of the 2013 bombings. Ortiz was a leader on the Red Sox from 2003 to 2016 and embodies the strength and resilient spirit of Boston both on and off the playing field throughout his career.

Congrats Big Papi! Boston loves you!

David Ortiz has us thinkin’ baseball. And what goes great with baseball? A good hot dog, duh! Soooooooo…..
