Police Warn Massachusetts Residents To Beware of Aggressive Turkeys
This time of year has increasingly become Turkey Intimidation Season. Mass Animal Control says calls are on the rise reporting aggressive behavior being displayed by turkeys in residential areas. The aggressive behavior correlates with mating season and runs from March through May. During this time the turkeys are hot and bothered and sometimes take it out by gobbling angrily, following, and even pecking at humans.
The other day on the way to work I got surrounded by a gang of turkeys, one repeatedly pecking my car’s tire like it was a viscious battle between 2 lifelong enemies. My tire didn’t fight back. Mass Wildlife says the best way to curb the aggresive turkey behavior is to stop feeding them in our communities, which leads to them feeling habituated alongside us and comfortable treating us like jerks.
And hey, if the turkeys don’t get us – the allergies will!! Check THIS out:
