John Dutton: Sources Reveal His Fate In ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5
Yellowstone fans, we’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is the show will continue after season 5. And the bad news is Kevin Costner’s iconic character John Dutton will be written off the show in the second half of Season 5. As we previously reported, Costner and Sheridan have been a part of offscreen drama since earlier this year. Costner is directing a multi-part series called Horizon that has conflicted with the shooting schedule for Yellowstone.
Sources tell Showbiz411 , “The whole team is down in Texas now meeting, and trying to figure out how to do it. I’m sure [showrunner] Taylor Sheridan has it worked out more or less.” The source adds: “We all knew Kevin would leave eventually.”

“I think the main show will go on for at least one more season after, they’ll have to see how it goes,” the source tells Showbiz411.
Without Costner the show will still go on and the Matthew McConaughey led spinoff series coming to Paramount + will not interfere with the show.
McConaughey’s series will be the latest spinoff by Sheridan in the Yellowstone series. Others include the prequel 1883 starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; the prequel 1923 starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford and 6666.
The second half of Season 5 is expected to air in the summer of 2023 with 6 additional episodes, although a specific release date has not been set.
