Jon Taffer of TV’s Bar Rescue Brought His Own Bourbon To Boston

From the restaurant business to television, and now the booze business...The popular host of TV's Bar Rescue is on a mission to fill your glass with bourbon; his bourbon. The entrepreneur, who "rescues" bars and restaurants from failure with a firm hand and a loud voice, came to town last night. Jon Taffer of TV's Bar Rescue brought his own bourbon to Boston. Jon was there, among media, at The Grand in Boston for a tasting of his new Taffer's Brown Butter Bourbon.

Eight months after opening a restaurant in Watertown, the TV host came back to introduce his first brand of alcohol. Jon Taffer, in Boston last night, told us that he never intended to get into the booze business. But, after coming up with this bourbon recipe to use in cocktails at his restaurant, there was such a high demand, he couldn't ignore his customers. After all, the customer is always right, right? He talked about how it's made, and then served us all some of his famous cocktail recipes. All of the cocktails served used Taffer's Brown Butter Bourbon. Taffer even worked the room, talking to most of us there. I have to tell you he's a surprisingly friendly person. He's engaging and really interesting to speak with.

Bar Rescue's Jon Taffer just opened a brand new restaurant/bar in Watertown called "Taffer's Tavern." The Grand Opening Celebration was yesterday, and he pulled out all the stops for the event. The hospitality entrepreneur cut the ribbon at the opening of of Taffer’s Tavern in Watertown, MA at Arsenal Yards. It's a franchise, but this is his first location in the Greater Boston area. Yesterday's fete featured actress, TV personality and Massachusetts native, Maria Menounos, Watertown Council President Mark S. Sideris, other city town luminaries, and of course, the franchise owners Marc Magerman and Peter Weber.

Taffer's Tavern has been called "the restaurant of the future." And according to the press release, the pub-style restaurant is built around "Taffer’s vision to create an environment that is both communal and safe, with an aesthetic that offers an inviting, warm atmosphere to enjoy both the experience and the unique menu crafted by the leading chefs and mixologist. His innovative concept will be one of the safest restaurant franchises in history utilizing what he dubbed the 'Taffer’s Safe Dining System'™ – cutting-edge technology designed to eliminate all possible biological and other contaminants and at the same time deliver excellent quality, perfectly prepared foods."

Along with a nice selection of beer and wine, Taffer's has a very creative cocktail menu. There are quite a few very interesting concoctions.
