Elle King: What Put Her At A ‘Loss For Words’

Elle King added hosting to her CMA Fest 2023 activities as she, Dierks Bentley, and Lainey Wilson hosted the CMA Fest Nissan Stadium for an ABC TV special to air in July. Apparently, Elle enjoyed herself. She posted a photo of herself and Faith Hill backstage to Instagram.
King captioned the post on Instagram, "There have been some insane moments this week for the INCREDIBLE @cmafest. I will never forget @faithhill coming in and saying my name. The brightest lights touch so many… but you never forget how a person makes you feel. I am rarely at a loss for words. Sometimes just being present in the moment and experiencing is expressing."
She continued, "People always ask me, what is it that you love so much about country music? It's not that I get to meet my heroes or the great legends. It is that we're all together in the experience. #Lucky doesn't describe the way I feel. Blessed might be more on point. Thank you to the FANS, to Nashville, to country music. You all truly make my heart whole heart."

Before she began her CMA Fest hosting duties last week (6/8) she stepped backstage to chat with us. Elle said she loves her co-host for the TV special, and when asked about Lainey Wilson, she said she would love to do more than TV hosting with her.
She told us, "I would do anything with Lainey, and she might be the most country person I've ever met in my life. She's just badass. I won't wear tight pants next to her, but I'd sing with her."
King also talked about how her life has changed since making the move to Nashville and recording her first country album, Come Get Your Wife. She explained, "My life has changed exponentially, I think. I don't know if it was just timing, like right after I had my baby and I made the country record, I just felt so drawn back here (Nashville)."
She added, "My whole band moved here, so I have my whole touring family here with me, and I feel very accepted by Nashville, by country music, and I've just never been happier. I think I owe a lot of that to Dierks Bentley."
Elle King, who came to country music from the world of pop music, will be releasing her first full country album tomorrow (1/27) called Come Get Your Wife. She celebrated the new work with a listening party in Nashville on Tuesday (1/24), playing songs for friends in the industry, including Dierks Bentley, who came to celebrate and sing a duet with King on stage.
The album title reflects something a guy yelled out over her at a bar, and she never forgot it. Elle told us, "Even the album title, it comes from something some a--hole said to my partner one night. Something thrown off in a bar, intended to put me in my place… and he probably didn't think twice about it. But I did."
The album has twelve tracks on it, including her chart-topper with Miranda Lambert, "Drunk (And I Don't Want To Go Home)," and a new duet with Dierks Bentley called "Worth A Shot." King says of the new work, "Releasing my debut country album is packed full of emotions. Mostly excitement and full of a lot of gratitude because I really am just so blown away by country music fans and how they've, you know, accepted me and still let me continue to just be wild and rowdy and be myself. And it's just a blessing." She added, "I have poured my heart and a lot of tequila into this record. So I really hope that people like it because I'm really proud of it, and I can't wait to sing all these songs live, and I hope you guys want to sing them with me too."
