When Garth Brooks talks about his wife, Trisha Yearwood, the guy gets emotional every time. Yesterday (6/15), Garth told us about a sweet gift Trisha gave him for his anniversary, which he declined. Brooks said, "She was sweet enough for our anniversary last year to have the documents where her official last name was Brooks, which is really cool. It's a great gift. I declined it."

He added, "Jack Yearwood had two daughters; that Yearwood name is Trisha. So, I'd be fine changing my name to Yearwood. Tradition doesn't count here. What counts is when you have two celebrities, don't let one swallow the other, right?"

Garth knows his wife's fortune can also come in handy in a pinch at a show. He said, "So I'm really, really lucky because, the Vegas residency, for example, she's with us a lot, and if you're out there dying and it's a one-man show, all I gotta do is say. 'Ladies and gentlemen, Trisha Yearwood,' and you'd be amazed how it just changes."

It isn't just his wife that impresses him; it is the power that women have in general. He told us, "The power the strength that females have. I think we need that. They also have a really good sensibility. I don't know if you know this; I ask for female songs." (What Brooks means by this is he tells publishers when finding songs to record that he wants songs only pitched to women singers.) He noted, "I'll find a way to make it a male song, but what it says, it is done in a really nice way."

Garth concluded of his wife of almost eighteen years, "Man, I don't even know how to say this; you're talking to Trisha Yearwood right now. She is so much in here (points to himself), and I like myself a lot better with her in here. She's a good egg. She class, and she's all the stuff I never could be. She's in everything."

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary today (12/10) and it seems just like yesterday that Garth took a knee and proposed to his girl at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California before a show.

In honor of their big day, we take a look at the many red carpets and moments in the couple's life and career in the last several years in this gallery of 16 Garth and Trisha photos.

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
