Aggressive Seagulls Force Major Change at Beloved Massachusetts Staple Sullivan’s Castle Island
One thing has been long-known by patrons (and workers) at Sullivan’s Castle Island: those seagulls ain’t no joke! What has been a running joke and a running nuisance has now become such a problem that it has caused a major change.
The french fry obsessed gulls used to swoop down one at a time to try their luck at retrieving some of your order but this year has been worse. According to some reports, 15-20 seagulls might swoop at a time now in a seemingly collective effort to not only grab a french fry but your entire order! One person even had their car stolen by one of the unruly seagulls. Ok. Just kidding about that last part – but only that last part! These seagulls are fresh!
So Sullivan’s has been forced to make a major change: they’ve decided to remove the outdoor seating! Marked off with caution tape, the seagulls have won this round. So if you’re heading to Sullivan’s for some burgers and dogs with the fam plan on munching your goods – with the windows up – if not those seagulls may muscle their way in, eat all your food, and steal your car like they did that imaginary guy I made up earlier. Dang.

Clam Chowder

Hot Dog
An overwhelming favorite. Hot dogs were mentioned more than any other menu option. Alyssa Dineen says: “I do not normally eat hot dogs ever but a trip to castle island you have to get a hot dog or two or three and some fries! It’s the best part!”
Crinkle Cut Fries
People love the crinkle cut. They feel it makes these fries very unique. It was suggested to put vinegar on them as well. Rosamaria Alicea says “You have to have the fries w/salt and vinegar or without either way those fries are delicious. “
Onion Rings
Onion rings are one of the most popular sides at Sullivan’s. They are hand cut and super crispy.
