What an amazing occurrence. A Rhode Island couple was out to eat when the seafood they were sharing gave them an engagement ring! Don't worry, nobody is engaged to the quahog.
Sandra “Sandy” Sikorski and Ken Steinkamp have been regulars at The Bridge Restaurant and Raw Bar in downtown Westerly for years, coming in for the quahogs. This time around Sandy reached for the last 'hog, slurped it down, and immediately felt a large ball in her mouth. That ball, come to find out, was an extremely rare, one-in-a-million, 9.8-millimeter Mercenaria pearl. It's estimated that the pearl took the clam 50 years to make.
Half a year later Ken got on one knee and popped the question to Sandy using, you guessed it, the rare quahog pearl, now tastefully and gorgeously set into an engagement ring. I hope the Bridge Restaurant will be catering... or at least invited. LOL
While we're talkin' seafood, maybe you'll find your next engagement ring in one of these delicious LOBSTER ROLLS! Why might they contain an engagement ring?? Uhhhhhhhhh... maybe it fell off the person making it?! (Probably not. It was a bit of a stretch, I know.)
