Carrie Underwood will star in the show open for Sunday Night Football for the 11th consecutive season beginning September 10 on NBC and Peacock.

The new show open is headlined by an updated rendition of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night." It features a concert performance interspersed with augmented reality highlights displayed across a halo scoreboard.

Carrie said in a statement, "Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play. I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can't wait for another season of football!"

Tripp Dixon, creative director of SNF, added, "We're thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season's show open. It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players, and fans in a fun and dynamic way."

The show open for Sunday Night Football will debut on the September 10 broadcast with the Dallas Cowboys visiting the New York Giants.

Underwood has had some time off recently and has been indulging in her favorite pastimes of gardening and farming her land. Carrie even has a song about getting her hands dirty called "Garden" on her latest album, Denim & Rhinestones.

She also has a song about loving her hometown from her 2012 Blown Away project called "Thank God For Hometowns." A few years back, Underwood told me about the song and how she related to the words. She said, "That line in the song 'Thank God for the county lines that welcome you back in when you were dying to get out.' Growing up in a small town in Checotah, that was the thing you thought about was getting away."

Carrie added, "I'm so glad I grew up there. And my parents still live there, and I get to go back and visit and still be a part of the town. I can help the town out with my foundation and still be an active member of that town. It's full of good people and hard-working people."

When Chris Stapleton sings the National Anthem at the Super Bowl LVII on Sunday (2/12), he will add his name to a list of country stars that have performed at the big game. That list includes Mickey Guyton, Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Faith Hill and many others.

As we know, Stapleton's performance will be a game highlight as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. We compiled a list of some of country music's most significant Super Bowl moments over the years.
