Massachusetts Man Busted Running a Dentist Office in a Convenience Store

I mean I guess it is convenience to be able to get a filling at the same place you get your fill-up, huh? Legal? That’s a different story.

While I wouldn’t get dental work done any place the person working on my teeth had to repeatedly pause to go ring people out buying butts and scratchies, many people have. But they’ll have to look for a new gas station dentist because this one’s closed and now the man running the convenience store dental practice is facing multiple charges.

64 year-old Juan Hermida Munoz was arrested on Friday in connection with the illegal operation being conducted at the Alternativa Convenience Store in Milford, Massachusetts. The illegal dental operation was discovered by the Milford Health Department while they were performing a routine inspection of the Alternativa Convenience Store.

Owner Maria Magdalena Guaman-Castro apparently rented a room in the back of the store to Munoz and he provided dental services without a license. Dental examinations, tooth extractions, anesthetics and cleanings were all being performed from the back room – again – without a license to practice dentistry.

Munoz has been charged with unauthorized practice of medicine and unauthorized practice of dentistry.
