Massachusetts Safest Town to Trick or Treat In
Trick or Treating is such an exciting part of a child’s upbringing. Going door to door receiving all sorts of treats for free?! And while that seems too goo to be true for the kiddos, for the parents it’s all about safety and making sure your children get to enjoy Halloween while staying safe.
Chamber of Commerce compiled a list of the top 25 safest cities for trick-or-treating based on factors such as crime rates, pedestrian protections, law enforcement presence, and more. When all was said and done a few things were clear: Texas is the clear winning state with 7 towns in the safest 25 in the country. New England only had one town/city in the Top 10: Stamford, Connecticut which came in at 6th. And the Chicago suburb of Naperville took the top “safest” spot at No. 1 on the list.
Cambridge, Massachusetts came in at unlucky number 13 on the countdown, which considering the Halloween theme of the countdown might actually be lucky in this case. While Cambridge had fairly high numbers in the violent crime and property crime metrics, it scored lower than most towns/cities on the list when it comes to registered sex offenders and fairly high compared to others on the list when it comes to police presence – which in the end helped move Cambridge up the list.
