Snowboard Legend Shaun White Will Speak At Boston’s Snowbound Expo
Believe it or not, ski season is right around the corner. Boston is holding the biggest convention in the northeast next month in preparation. The Snowbound Expo will be at the Boston Convention Center on November 3 through 5, and snowboarding legend Shaun White will be there.
“Ignite your passion for winter and outdoor sports and join the community meet up of the year,” Snowbound Expo says. Over 170 partners are expected to be in attendance at this event.
Here Is What You Can Expect
You can check out some of the latest mountain gear and technology. This event lets you see some of the industry’s latest innovations via interactive activities. Vendors will set up booths with new products on display; some will have demonstrations available. The “retail zone” will have popular brands like K2 and Nordica. Popular New England area mountains and resorts will also be onsite. You can learn about what trails are new this year and secure reservations.
In addition, there are some special events scheduled as well. For example, Gilson Snow will host a “Rail Jam.” This custom art snowboard and ski company will have professional snowboarders and skiers onsite performing their best rail tricks.
The Speaker Series
Shaun White is scheduled to be part of the lineup of speakers at the 2023 Snowbound Expo. This part of the convention is hosted by World Cup skier Doug Lewis and Mary Walsh, the editor-in-chief of Snowboard magazine. Joining White on stage throughout the weekend will be additional big names in winter extreme sports. Five-time Olympian snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis, filmmakers (and pro skier) Alex Hackel, and “Mr. Giant Slalom” Ted Ligety are both scheduled to attend. Speaker dates and times have not officially been announced yet. However, Snowbound Expo suggests you follow their social channels for updates on this speaker series.
Tickets for Boston’s Snowbound Expo are on sale now. You can grab a weekend pass for $31 or a single-day ticket for $16.
5 Of The Best Outlets For Surf Attire In New England
The waves are starting to cooperate here in New England, so now is the time to get outfitted in the raddest gear. Here, I will take you through five of the best outlets to get surf attire in Massachusetts.
Over the past ten years, the shores of Rhode Island and Massachusetts have become hotspots for catching some of the best waves on the Atlantic coast. In recognition of the region fully adopting surf culture, major retail brands have opened locations in the area over the past year. Pairing national chains with local small business household names has made the area an east coast surfing hotspot. Jack Johnson, a Hawaiian north shore native, and the heart and soul of modern acoustic surf music, headlined the 2022 Levitate Music and Arts Festival.
What Is Surf Attire?
The question is simple but the answer is complex. Obviously, the most crucial component to proper surf gear is a good surfboard. Many outlets allow you to rent, but once you are ready to take up the sport regularly, it’s imperative that you have the board that is right for you. The best friend of the surfboard is a wetsuit. Often these items can be purchased from the same location. Though you can order wetsuits on Amazon or other digital retail outlets, they all seem to fit differently. Trust me, a loose wetsuit where water gets in the neck is one of the more initiating feelings in the water. Other necessary surfboard accessories include wax and a leash.
Finally, no surfer is properly equipped without attire to show you are a surfer when you are out of the water. Some of the stores we will list sell clothing that is representative of surf culture. In fact, one particular outlet makes their clothing with the beach in mind. They use recycled garments and often lead philanthropic efforts to help make our oceans cleaner.
Whether you are looking for a new board to hang ten with during the summer of 2023, or for athletic wear to sport while surf training in the winters, these five outlets for surf attire in New England are open and ready for you to cruise right in.
