Want to be the first person to get a drink on a Southwest Airlines flight? I have an airline trick for you!

Picture this: you're hyped about your vacation. You've packed your bags, double-checked your passport, and visualized yourself sipping a piña colada on a distant beach. You walk on to a Southwest airlines flight and you remember that it's "open seating." Instead of snagging an aisle or window seat, you're sandwiched between a sumo wrestler and a chatty book club member discussing the intricacies of the latest romantic novel. Yes, you’re in the dreaded middle seat on a long-haul flight.

Have you ever traveled Southwest Airlines? They have great one-way non-stop deals on flights! And 2 checked bags are always FREE!

However, not all is lost because look, the airline beverage cart is coming! And there’s a trick to being the first to sip that mini can of Coke or savor that tiny bottle of Jack Daniels. You see, on Southwest flights, a specific strategy is required.

How To Be The First To Get A Drink On A Southwest Flight

If you're seated in row 1 of the airplane you're already in the prime location for immediate hydration gratification. But, if row 1 is taken and you have another option to pick your own seat, your next best shot is to grab a spot in row 9. Why? Well, this is where the flight attendants begin their mid-flight beverage service. It's like the perfect oasis in the desert of airborne discomfort.

Southwest Airlines is one of the only airlines where there's no assigned seating, so picking the perfect seat is important!

But why row 9? It's a Southwest Airline secret. Some say it's the center of the plane's beverage chakra. Others claim it's where the airplane’s Feng Shui aligns. But the truth is that it's just a great place to be when you're parched. And an even better place to be if you're stuck between two human beings who have claimed both armrests.

I don't know if this trick works on all airlines, but I do know that this is where the mid-flight beverage service begins on Southwest Airlines. The next time you fly with this airline, aim for the magic of rows 1 or 9. Safe travels and clink your glasses to smart seating!

Are These The Best 5 Vacation Islands in The Caribbean?

If you are paying attention to the news these days you might have heard that it's getting harder than ever to book an island getaway because of the sheer demand. If you're looking to getaway you should consider booking soon, especially if you plan on getting away this summer.

Where to go?

Travel experts have compiled a list of the Five Best Caribbean Islands to take a vacation based on everything from beauty to affordability to the native folk, quality of the resorts, restaurants, accessibility and the kindness of the locals.

There are dozens of islands in the Caribbean and they are almost all beautiful and worthy of a vacation stay, but some are better than others. I have been to only two that made the top five and I can say that they were both gorgeous, with long white beaches and fantastic resorts that were 'all inclusive" and offered so much to do.

There's nothing like the blue/green Caribbean water!

The biggest reason people love the Caribbean is the close proximity to the Mainland US, most are direct flights from Logan or just a quick hop out Miami, and if you book through the resort they will most likely offer transportation to and from the airport.

I prefer to use a travel agent, because it costs you nothing and they take care of so much of the booking process and they are very familiar with most of the islands and their resorts. If you stopped using an agent, I suggest you consider using one for your next trip. It's nice to have a person looking out for you from the booking to the return and they might have some secret promotions that they are aware of that you might not be or have access to.

Here are the Top Five Caribbean Islands to Play and Vaca!
