I ate this chicken dish that my boyfriend made and he made me wait 15 years for the recipe!

When you're young, there are a myriad of firsts that imprint on your memory. Your first kiss, your first heartbreak and the first time that your boyfriend cooks you dinner. When I was 14-years-old, I started dating a Senior boy. But of all of the memories, the one that stands out to me was the time he cooked for me.

For many, the thought of a high school boy cooking might seem out of the ordinary. But my boyfriend didn't just cook; he made a dish so tasty that it seemed almost magical. It was a baked chicken breast that was impossibly moist and rich in flavor. I was completely obsessed.

I Had To Wait 15 Years For This Chicken Dish Recipe!

Eager to replicate this culinary masterpiece at home, I asked him for the recipe. His response left me perplexed. "When you're 30 years old, I will share the recipe with you." At 15 or 16, the idea of waiting till I was 30-years-old for a chicken recipe seemed ludicrous. However, as relationships do, ours came to an end when he went off to college. And with the passage of time, the memory of that dish faded too.

But, as life often surprises us in the most unexpected ways, on my 30th birthday, I received a text from him. After years of no communication, there it was - the much-awaited chicken recipe. How the HECK did he remember that he promised me the recipe?

The Recipe Was On The Side Of A Mayonnaise Jar The Entire Time

The twist? This sought-after recipe was none other than one found on the side of a Hellman's Mayonnaise jar. And the even bigger surprise was that it had just three ingredients!

Hellman's Mayonnaise jars

I couldn't believe that this recipe was on the side of this jar entire time!

Every time I prepared the dish afterward, I would chuckle at the irony. Here I was, having waited more than a decade for a recipe that was publicly available on a mayo jar. But, there's a lesson tucked away in this light-hearted memory. Sometimes, the value isn't just in the end result but in the journey and the anticipation.

So, was the chicken recipe worth the wait? Absolutely! Because as with many things in life, it's not just about the destination, but the journey itself. And sometimes, the best things truly are worth waiting for.

I waited 15 years for a chicken recipe that was on the side of a mayo jar the entire time! This is what the dish looks like.

Here's the Recipe So You Don't Have To Wait As Long As I Did

Easy-To-Make Freezer Recipes For Any Occasion

Yesterday I was a wizard in the kitchen! I took everything out of the refrigerator and began prepping meals for when our family gets home from the delivery room. I had so many vegetables...Tomatoes, carrots, summer squash, zucchini, cauliflower, onions, sweet potatoes and even radishes! I had to use them before the trip to the hospital so I found some great recipes and even came up with my own ideas on how to use them.

But it certainly got me thinking about easy-to-make recipes that you can throw together for moments like this. Whether you're always on the go and need to prepare a meal for your family, or maybe you're making an easy-to-freeze dish for a friend in the hospital, here are some recipes to try!

1. Carrot Soup

Have a ton of carrots like I had in the kitchen yesterday? This is the recipe I followed, and I added the curry to give it more spice!

2. Tomato Soup

I had a TON of tomatoes, so I took this recipe and added some more vegetables to my baking pan (like sweet potatoes, radishes, yellow peppers and more). I also added coconut milk to give it a sweet flavor.

3. Easy Lasagna

Lasagna is always easy to freeze and yummy to heat up when you need it!

4. Meatloaf

Meatloaf is hit or miss for some people, but I like it!

5. Chili

Chili is SO easy to make!! I kind of just throw in a bunch of veggies, ground beef or turkey, and beans with fire roasted diced tomatoes and taco seasoning. But if you prefer to follow more of a recipe here's one!

6. Beef Stew

I've never made this, but it was suggested by many on Facebook!

7. Buffalo Chicken Meatloaf

A twist on a traditional meatloaf dish to those who like a bit of a kick!

8. Enchiladas

East to make and easy to freeze!
