My Wife Hates Video Games. I Go To Grandma’s House When I Want To Play
Charlie’s wife hates video games, so when he bought a PlayStation 5, he set it up at his grandmother’s house. He has been going over to visit her a few times a week and playing with her, but one day Charlie’s wife stopped by to surprise them and saw that he was playing video games. Now she is angry at him.
Jonathan: And we have Charlie on the line with us. Hey, Charlie.
Charlie: Hey, how are you doing?
Jonathan: Fantastic. You’re like myself. You enjoy playing video games, but you’ve gone to crazy, great lengths to make sure that you can get your gaming fix. So what’s going on there?
Charlie: So my wife does not love how much I love video games. She’s not a fan of video games. And so I’ve sort of secretly bought PlayStation five and I didn’t want it sent to the house because I knew that she would freak out. She would think I’m spending too much time and money on it. So I had it sent to my grandmother’s house, who lives 15 minutes away.
Jonathan: Okay.
Charlie: And so I thought it’s a good excuse to go see Grandma and be able to play my games. And so that’s what I’ve been doing for the past few months. I have been saying, Hey, I’ve got to go see Grandma. And then I spend like five or six hours with grandma.
Ayla: Wait a minute. Wait? At night?
Charlie: You know, like sometimes during the day, you know, on my days off.
Jonathan: Okay. On your days off. Okay.
Charlie: If it’s at night and I visit grandma, then it’s maybe 2 hours, that’s fine.
Ayla: You go at dinner time, but you’re really just playing whatever it is.
Jonathan: Basically, you’re living with grandma. If you’re spending five or 6 hours a day with her.
Charlie: I don’t know.
Jonathan: So you’re going over there to see Grandma, but really to play PlayStation five.
Charlie: Yeah. And to be fair, I’ve been teaching my grandmother how to play the PlayStation too so. Well,
Jonathan: What do you do for a living? What games do you play?
Ayla: Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Mario Kart?
Charlie: Yeah, she watches me play. She really likes redemption, too, so that she can see the horses. You know, she loves them..
Jonathan: Oh, Red Dead redemption. Yeah.
Charlie: She loves Red Dead Redemption.
Jonathan: Mario Kart was, you know, not a PlayStation game.
Ayla: I know you would obviously play that on Nintendo.
Jonathan: Anyway, so the problem is, you go over there to play the video games. I’m assuming your wife has found out.
Charlie: Well, yes. She did not know for a little while. And then one day she came over because she got off early. She thought, I’m going to come over and spend time with you, unannounced. She showed up and Grandma and I were saving the west, if you will. I don’t know why I did it.
Ayla: Okay.
Charlie: But yeah, we were playing the game. She freaked out and I can tell you, I’ve been sleeping on the couch for several days now.
Ayla: Charlie.
Charlie: She’s very upset about it because, well, she thinks that I lied to her and I did a little bit. But I also was really spending time with my grandmother.
Jonathan: Okay. So your wife is mad at you about this. Have you still been going over to your grandma’s house to play Ps5?
Charlie: I mean, I’m already on the couch, so yeah.
Ayla: Charlie, you’re funny.
Charlie: I know.
Jonathan: This is a broader topic on how women hate video games. Not all women, but some women like video games. They hate it when their man is playing video games where it’s fine if you’re watching TV, but we play video games, God forbid.
