Massachusetts Named Best State For Working From Home
A new study has crowned Massachusetts the best state in America for working from home. So digital nomads, your work paradise awaits in Massachusetts! I’ve just turned into some weird Massachusetts recruiter, sorry about that.
The people at Blue Pillow developed the “digital nomad index” which gives each state an overall score. The higher the score, the better to work from home. The lower the score, the worse. A whole bunch of factors go into determining each state’s overall digital nomad index score: Average Off-Premises Food & Beverage Consumption, Average Gasoline & Energy Goods Consumption, Violent Crime Rate Per 100k
Property Crime Rate Per 100k, No. Computer Repair Firms, No. Computer Repair Employment, No. Co-working Spaces, No. Free Wi-Fi Hotspots, Annual Road Fatalities Per Billion Vehicle Miles (2017-2021), percentage of Workforce Working From Home, Air Quality Index (Higher = Worse), and State & National Park Coverage (sq. mi.) are all factored in.
Mississippi came out on the bottom, it was named the worst place for working from home with an overall digital nomad index of 30.84.
On the flip side Massachusetts led the pack, it was named the best place for working from home with an overall digital nomad index of 64.70.
New Jersey and Connecticut came in 2nd and 3rd on the BEST side respectively while Wyoming and Arkansas came in 2nd and 3rd on the WORST side.
As for the rest of New England, we already said that Connecticut came in 3rd, Rhode Island came in 9th, New Hampshire came in 20th, Vermont came in 31st, and Maine came in last in New England and 43rd in the country.
