Massachusetts – All You Can Eat Korean Hot Pot Chain is Opening Locations Soon in these 3 Towns

Nothing warms my tum tum like a steaming bowl of hot pot. And it looks like hot pot may be one of the cuisines primed for a vast popularity growth in the new year as a popular Korean Hot Pot chain is readying itself to open 3 new Massachusetts locations soon. Did I mention that the hot pot is all-you-can-eat?! Kowabunga, come to papa.

The chain is called kPot. Check out their menu RIGHT HERE. You basically choose from one of 7 soup bases, choose your meats and veggies, and watch that delicious non-stop parade of food begin. Soup bases range from Tom Yum (my personal favorite with some fire) to tomato soup (more palatable to the Campbells crowd) and meat options include too many to list – but if you’re looking for it it’s likely there.

Reviews of individual locations I looked at got around 4 stars out of 5 on average which is pretty dang good, especially for a national chain.

Where will kPot be opening in Massachusetts?

Good question, thanks for getting me back on track. kPot will be opening locations in Medford, Dedham, and Methuen in 2024. It looks like they already recently opened a 4th Massachusetts location (or more accurately their first location) in West Springfield, MA. Also when I looked for actual addresses to pass along I found out the Medford location is actually in Malden. I’m getting confused too. Here are the locations of the new kPot locations, per their website:

Medford: 7 Highland Ave in Malden

Dedham: 300 Providence Highway

Methuen: 90 Pleasant Valley St. Suite 106

West Springfield: 935 Riverdale St.

All locations look to be open in early 2024 so delicious broth will soon flow like the Mystic River in Massachusetts.
A different beloved hot pot meal is FRENCH ONION SOUP. Sooooooo perfect on a chilly (or downright cold) New England day. Well… here’s 6 restaurants you need to hit if your love for French onion soup is even close to mine:

  • 1. Lincoln Tavern

    425 West Broad St. South Boston

    Lincoln Tavern is a casual spot in the heart of Southie. There’s a reason it’s been around so long. They simply serve good food, at a good price. Their menu items don’t stray from from the traditional. In fact, there French onion is unabashedly conventional. It’s made with the usual, caramelized onions, garlic croutons, and gruyere cheese. But you can always count on it to be there and be delicious.

  • 2. One Bistro

    1125 Boston-Providence Turnpike, Norwood (in the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood)

    One Bristro describes themselves as “upscale yet casual.” Their “Onion Soup Gratinée” is made with caramelized onions, sherry wine, beef stock, and cheese crostini. Give me sherry in French onion soup all day! Yelp reviewer Brian from Norwood said, “They have the best onion soup around. This place is definitely a hidden gem.” Don’t you love it when the cheese overspills?

     

  • 3. Cafe De Paris

    110 Willard St. Quincy (at the Common Market Restaurants)

    This one is in my neighborhood. My husband and I visit it somewhat frequently. Every time we go, we always order the French onion soup. It is consistently good, always hot, and always served with a smile. The prices here are very reasonable and the portions are excellent.

  • 4. Aquitaine

    569 Tremont St. Boston (also locations in Chestnut Hill and Legacy Place in Dedham)

    Reviewer Sherry said “Best onion soup I’ve had in a long time!” Made with bone broth, aged sherry, croutons, emmentaler & gruyère, you’ll pay more here, but it sounds (and looks) like it’s worth it.

  • 5. Cafe Sauvage

    25 Massachusetts Ave. Boston

    Eater Boston digs Cafe Sauvage’s French onion soup topped with Gruyere. They say the “all-day Back Bay cafe aims to off a multicultural taste of Parish.” Their version is also made with aceto balsamic and bone marrow. From the looks of it, they do no skimp on the cheese.

     

  • 6. Stockyard

    135 Market St. Brighton

    The Stockyard restaurant in Brighton has been in business since 1972. For as long as I can remember they’ve had French onion soup on the menu. I haven’t been in a few years, but from what I remember, it’s really good (and reasonably priced)! Their recipe uses swiss and mozzarella cheese for the au gratin. Pass me a spoon, please.
