Well, look at us! The Bay State is bursting with talent. At the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards handed out last on January 15, our state was proudly represented. In fact, check out these 3 recent big Emmy winners from Massachusetts!
The live broadcast of the show that honors and awards TV, streaming and specials was hosted by “Blackish” star, Anthony Anderson. And, as pointed out by CBS, “the 75th annual ceremony was initially set to take place in September but was postponed due to the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes that began in May and July, respectively.”
And the Winners Are…
And, as reported by Boston 25, here are the big Emmy winners from Massachusetts:
- Outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series – Ayo Edibiri, “The Bear”
- Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series – Jennifer Coolidge, “The White Lotus”
- Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series- Ebon Moss-Bachrach, “The Bear”
Ayo Edibiri plays chef Sydney Adamu in the Hulu series The Bear. She grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and first got involved in acting while attending Boston Latin. From there, it was comedy and the improv club. Then, it was on to NYU, where she studied dramatic writing. She also won a Golden Globe for her performance in the show.
Jennifer Coolidge, my fellow Emerson alumna, was born in Boston and raised in Norwell, Massachusetts. She first rose to major fame when playing Paulette, the manicurist in Legally Blonde. Clearly, she is just hitting her stride. After graduating from Emerson in 1985 and has worked hard to earn her current, long-overdue industry accolades.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts. His mother ran a secondhand children’s clothing store, while his dad started and operated a nonprofit community music school.
Who knew our little state was such a harbinger for theatrical talent? And these 3 skilled thespians are just a few of the many.
