Two JetBlue Planes Collide At Boston’s Logan Airport – Firsthand Account From Passengers Headed To The Super Bowl
Picture this: You’re on a flight getting ready to go to the Super Bowl. Your plane is on the runway ready to take off. As you’re waiting, another plane clips your plane’s wing, leaving you grounded. That’s what happened to a full plane of passengers this morning. The passenger list included two Beasley Boston executives this morning who were on their way to the Super Bowl.
When JetBlue planes collide
Director of Sales for Beasley Boston Brian Schneekloth, and Vice President Market Manager of Beasley Boston, Mary Menna, were both booked on JetBlue flight 777. The flight was headed to Las Vegas early Thursday morning when two JetBlue planes collide.
According to Brian, “We hit them, it was like a crash. You heard a jarring crash. I thought it was a de-icer.”
Following the crash, Brian and Mary said they were left on the runway for an hour before being brought back to the gate. The second plane was flight 551 and was headed to Orlando.
What’s next?
As of 8am Thursday morning, they were told JetBlue was getting another plane to take them and the rest of the passengers to Las Vegas.

About the incident, Mary continued “Flight 777, our plane clipped another JetBlue flight that was de-icing. It tore off their back wing and broke a piece of our wing.”
Officially, the FAA said in a statement that “JetBlue Flight 777, an Airbus A321neo’s left winglet struck the right horizontal stabilizer of JetBlue Flight 551, an Airbus A321, around 6:40 a.m., local time on Thursday, February 8, while on the deicing pad at Boston Logan International Airport.”
The second plane, Flight 551 was bound for Orlando. The FAA has said they will be investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the airline is looking into the matter as well.
“Safety is JetBlue’s priority, and we will work to determine how and why this incident occurred,” JetBlue said in a statement.

This incident is actually the second one at Logan Airport involving a JetBlue flight in the past year. Back in February 2023, a JetBlue plane that was preparing to land almost collided with a private jet. Investigators later confirmed that the private jet started taking off without permission.
