Massachusetts, You Look Good in ‘Beetlejuice 2’ First Look Pics!
A huge Hollywood movie crew descended on Melrose, Mass this past November – transforming it into magical movie studio for Beetlejuice 2, the long waited sequel to the 1988 classic. Today we got Beetlejuice 2 first look photos courtesy of Entertainment Weekly! Michael Keaton reprises his role as lead, Wynona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are back too, Jenna Ortega joins the cast, and Tim Burton returns to direct and protect the integrity of the original.

The filming had been long-delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but it eventually got underway, wrapped, and now we have our Beetlejuice 2 first look!! The excitement of Melrose being turned into a big time Hollywood movie set excited residents in the aftermath of Halloween. It was like the holiday was extended as the set was full of pumpkins and skeletons and Halloweenie movie props.
Filming also took place in another New England location: Vermont.

Beetlejuice 2 hits theaters on September 5, 2024. That was actually the originally planned release date, before the SAG-AFTRA strike. Impressively production worked in double time to keep that release date solid, even after many delays. The original Beetlejuice was released in 1988 and quickly became both a cult classic and a blockbuster hit. It was both a critical and commercial success, grossing $74.7 million on a $15 million budget. Beetlejuice 2 is only the second film sequel Tim Burton has directed. The first being 1992’s Batman Returns.
