The Boston Accent: One Of America’s ‘Most Attractive’ Accents
Who knew your accent could be a factor in how others perceive you in the dating world? Some people even say that your accent can alter your ranking on the attractiveness scale. This includes a Boston accent. Recently, PennStakes.com took a break from PA sports betting and set out to rank the U.S. accents that are deemed to be the most attractive. “From the easy-going cadence of California to the unapologetic Bostonian twang, a wide range of accents have made their way onto our list,” they said.
To rank the accents, the website conducted social listening research through the social media analytic platform Brandwatch.com. By analyzing the top 50 most common accents, the platform highlighted every mention of a specific accent over the past year. Then, it broke down how many of these mentions contained keywords such as “attractive,” “sexy,” and many more.
The study revealed that Southern accents are the most attractive, with a score of 76,940. According to the study, people with a Southern accent are usually perceived as hospitable, charismatic, and charming. “Warm Southern accents are also known to exude trustworthiness – so, if you’re looking for dependability in your dating life, this might be one of your favorites,” they said.
Following behind is the New York accent. The New York accent, which received 70,460 mentions, has been made famous by being featured in countless movies and TV shows, as highlighted by the study. Wrapping up the top three is the California accent. “Many are intrigued by the distinctly drawn-out vowels, and the accent epitomizes the carefree West Coast spirit,” they said.
The Boston Accent Is One Of America’s Most Attractive Accents
Fifth in the ranking is the Boston accent, which has 34,110 mentions online. The study points out that the Boston accent shares traits with the New York accent, and similarly “exudes authenticity and grit.” They said the Bostonian accent also reflects “fast-paced city life, and people often combine words and drop consonants as they speak.” If you are a fan of confidence, you might be an admirer of the Boston accent, according to the study.
In 2019, a survey found the Boston accent to be the second sexiest accent in the U.S. “One of America’s most imitated and parodied accents, Boston almost comes out on top of the country’s sexiest accents,” Big 7 wrote in its findings. In response to this survey, actor-writer Andy Richter, of Conan said, “Even the Boston accent itself knew it couldn’t get away with first place.” Comedian and actress Alyssa Limperis chimed in with, “I don’t use mouthwash I just end my day w/ a big bowl a clam chowda.”

From Pizza To Guitars Here Are Your Best I-95 Stops From Boston To New York
There are roughly 220 miles and four and half hours between Boston and New York. On the drive south (or return trip North), it’s likely you’ll need to make a pit stop. Whether it’s to accommodate a bathroom request, grab a bite to eat or get a breath of air, we’ve compiled a list of the best stops along I-95 on the Boston to New York drive.
We’ll assume here that we are driving south. Therefore, your journey begins in Massachusetts. You’ll pull past Providence and a few exit signs for T.F. Green Airport before enduring the meat of the trip. That would be a good two-plus hours through Connecticut, where you will surely slow down at some point. Finally, after trekking through the Constitution State, you start to see the exit sign numbers get down to single digits. The empire state awaits.
This journey can seem like a grueling effort up and down I-95. In a bigger picture, a four-hour route between two major markets is not really that much. Just ask the Midwest. If you want to drive from Chicago to Minneapolis, you are looking at close to a seven-hour drive, with only one state in the way. Nonetheless, the 1-95 Boston to New York route can be grueling. Therefore, we put together a collection of different stops to help make it more enjoyable.
Of course, this exercise does not include kids screaming in the backseat that need an immediate stop. Perhaps that’s another list. Here, we will pinpoint some pleasing attractions you would have the time to stop for. However, we won’t stray too far off the exits. And while taking 12 hours to play blackjack at Foxwoods would be a blast, we will narrow in on relatively short stops only.
So, let’s hop in the car and find the best stops from Boston to New York along I-95.
*Note – we are not going in order of stops from north to south. We are listing in an overall ranking format.
