Acton New Restaurant: Southern American, French, Italian, Comfort Food!

Wow, there are a lot of cuisines going on in that headline. First off, congratulations Acton - you're getting an exciting (albeit slightly confusing) new restaurant! The Acton new restaurant is named Silver Girl and the cuisine served is even more non-traditional than the restaurant's name.

What makes Silver Girl different is it's focus. The restaurant will focus on comfort food. That in itself isn't too unique. It's the fusion of styles that piques my interest in the comfort food space. The restaurant will take inspirations primarily from 3 regional cuisines: Louisiana, French, and Italian. How will you bring those three pretty different flavor profiles together? I don't have that answer yet but my mouth is eager to find out when they open! Louisiana, French, and Italian are an overwhelming yes please, yes please, and yes please from me so I'd love to see how they'd play together on one plate.

The team behind popular specialty food shop Eve & Murray's will be opening the restaurant. Dawn Aguiar and Tamara Deluzio are the duo between the shop and soon-to-be-restaurant and will be opening Silver Girl on Arlington Street - just a short distance away from Eve & Murray's, which is located on Massachusetts Avenue.

In a Facebook post posted to the Eve & Murray's account, it was explained that, "We'll be serving the best from our combined heritages - a bit Louisiana, a bit French, a bit Italian. All deliciously elevated comfort-food classics. The flavor combinations and flair we put into the sandwiches you love at Eve & Murray's will come together at lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch at Silver Girl. Coming soon-ish."

So mark it on your calendar! I'll meet you in Acton for that multi-regional comfort food... "soon-ish." Good luck on the opening, Silver Girl, and get ready to nom nom nom, Acton!

I thought about diving into researching some of the top spots in Massachusetts after connecting with a friend and trying to figure out a place to meet for dinner tonight. Going out for margaritas and Mexican food just feels like it's more special than your average dine out experience. It's also more adventurous. Most of us opt for American food, Italian or Chinese. It's all about the "masa" at La Brassa! This is a traditional form of flour used to make tortillas, tamales and other foods. All of their tortillas are made "in house from scratch. We nixtamalize the corn ourselves, grind it and press it, then cook them fresh to order on our traditional clay comal."  This Somerville spot embraces the Mexican traditional and gives the traditional New England a few favorites like oysters.  Win win. As Yelp reviewer Francesco declares, "I am thrilled to see the well-deserved recognition the restaurant is receiving lately. Having been a loyal customer for years, I've often recommended this gem to close-friends, keeping it somewhat of a hidden treasure, but it seems the word is rightfully spreading.My go-to order has always been their tacos especiales with onion, cilantro, and salsa. Consistently, these tacos stand out as the best and most authentic I've had in Boston. The flavors are unparalleled, and each bite is reminiscent of the flavors I grew up eating in Mexico and subsequently Texas." Now, that's a glowing endorsement for this small and humble restaurant in Waltham. It's so unassuming, you won't find a social media presence or even a website, but it was named as one of the best restaurants in the country by Yelp last year.

On the Angela's Cafe website, they invite you to "partake in a culinary trip to Puebla, Mexico and enjoy our traditional regional dishes made with love taught by our loved Mama Angela." If Mama created the dishes, you know it's good! This bright yellow cafe has been lighting up the neighborhood since 2007, It's a family run business that is famous for it's mole poblana, a treasured recipe handed down from the restaurant's late matriach. A Trip Advisor reviewer exclaimed: "Great authentic Mexican food in East Boston. We enjoyed the awesome guacamole with homemade chips, enchiladas and cilantro camarones (spicy). Service is super friendly, prices reasonable."

398 Watertown St Newton

Pátzcuaro Taqueria & Bar is family run spot that makes everything from scratch. They are famous for their birria. It's a tender, packed with flavor braised beef served in a crisped handmade tortilla and topped with cheese. It's offered with a traditional beef consomme for dipping.  Yelp reviewer Jennifer Q says it's "Incredibly authentic and delicious food! The salsa and guacamole are so fresh and flavorful. The staff is very friendly. It's simple dining and a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. We will definitely go again!"
