Catch The Eclipse At 8 Massachusetts State Parks For Free
People are starting to get a little solar silly. They are spending big bucks on travel, accommodations and glasses for the main event. Did you know you can catch the eclipse at 8 Massachusetts state parks for free? That’s right, you can get your fix of the eclipse right here at home and it won’t cost you a thing.
According to the Mass.gov, families are invited to witness the near-total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8 at 8 parks across the state. at no cost. The state says that “each park will host educational programs and provide guided viewing sessions. DCR is also offering visitors free, safe viewing glasses that filter out harmful ultraviolet and infrared rays, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in this celestial spectacle, as DCR encourages attendees to follow recommended safety guidelines when viewing the solar eclipse.”
What an incredible way to connect with our universe and communities across the globe, as we take in one of the wonders of the world. Take advantage of this phenomenon as the next total eclipse won’t occur until August 23, 2044, as reported by Nasa.
What Time Will The Eclipse Happen
For an important question like this, we have to consult the experts at Nasa. They have a timeline for all areas HERE. But if you are in the Boston area the solar eclipse will happen around 3:29 pm on Monday April 8. Here, the Eclipse at 8 Massachusetts state parks, and all over the state, will not see a total solar eclipse. Instead, we will have to settle for a partial eclipse, but still an incredible event.
Mass.gov explains; “A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, blocking the face of the sun.” They go on to say that we should see 85 percent of the view. Yet, still a rare and wonderful chance to experience it and for free. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch the eclipse at 8 Massachusetts state parks.

50. Great Basin National Park

According to the National Park Service, many of the legends surrounding Haleakala focus on the demigod Maui, and natives consider the summit to be the place where Maui snared the sun in order to slow its passage through the sky.

Crater Lake National Park in Oregon was formed when a volcanic eruption at Mount Mazama triggered the collapse of a tall peak, forming the deepest lake in the United States. The crater, also known as a caldera, is 5 to 6 miles long and 3,900 feet deep, making it the seventh-deepest lake in the world, the National Park Service reports. Because the lake doesn’t have any inlets or outlets, the water comes entirely from precipitation, giving it a clear blue hue.

The park protects rare and endangered species, including the manatee, American crocodile, and Florida panther. The park has some of the darkest night skies in the United States, so much so that it has been designated an International Dark Sky Park.

New River Gorge National Park & Preserve consists of 70,000 acres along the New River, a whitewater river in southern West Virginia that despite its name is one of the oldest on the continent.
