NH Site Bursting with Purple Blooms Makes Most Beautiful List
New Hampshire lupines everywhere!! If you’re a fan of purple everywhere, you need to go here. Yardbarker just released a very cool list for nature enthusiasts – The Best Places to See Flowers Bloom in the United States. If you’re a New Englander like me you’ll have to fly to almost every entry on their 11 place list – all but one. One of the prettiest bloom spots is here in New England. In New Hampshire to be more exact. And this is a flower phenomenon I personally have never heard of. (If it’s common knowledge, hand me the dunce cap!)
Mount Rainier in Washington made the list thanks to it’s daisies and fireweed and avalanche lilies among other fleurs throwing pops of color all over. Montana, Tennessee, and Alaska are all represented as well. To see their entire rundown head on over here.
If PURPLE is your color, then your fix is just a road trip away. New Hampshire is represented on the pretty pretty list thanks to Sugar Hill in the White Mountains. In Spring the hill is literally covered in purple thanks to New Hampshire’s gorgeous lupines!
New Hampshire Lupines are natural beauty!
The purple lupines that blanket the fields and roadsides of New Hampshire add such an eye-popping splash of color to the landscape, attracting both locals and visitors for Instagram-worthy snaps. These lupines typically bloom from late May through June, depending on local climate conditions and Sugar Hill is the ideal spot as they thrive in full-sun and drier soil.
New Hampshire Lupines are big helpers too!
Lupines play a pivotal role too as they are nitrogen-fixing plants, meaning they have the ability to convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form that can be used by other plants. Lupines also provide habitat and food for various wildlife species, including bees, butterflies, and birds.
If you’re from Massachusetts, we didn’t have any entries in the flower bloom list – BUT – we do have plenty of gorgeous walking trails boasting plenty of natural beauty:
