From social gatherings to burritos there are some great deals going on to help jump start your spring. Some of these Boston freebies you need to know about, just about anybody can take advantage of. While others, are great initiatives the state is spearheading to help provide the best living conditions possible for Bay State residents.
Let’s start there. Earlier this week it was revealed that there are plans in place to help make Community College free in Massachusetts. In short, Massachusetts “would invest $75.5 million to cover tuition and fees for all residents, and offer a stipend to some students of up to $1,200 for books, supplies and other costs,” ABC’s WCVB explained.
The plan, which is entitled “MassEducate” would be part of the 2025 Senate fiscal budget. In the meantime, Mass.edu reported, “If you are 25 or older, MassReconnect will pay for all your tuition and fees and will provide you with an allowance to cover your books and supplies.”
In Addition, Here Are Some Boston Freebies Going On This Month
Boston Seaport Sweat kicked off on Wednesday May 1. Back by popular demand, these open-air classes take place at the Seaport Common through September 28. “Classes are free, open to the public, and welcome all levels of fitness,” Boston Seaport explains. You can find the full class schedule here, as it entails everything from yoga to pilates to total body.
Staying in the exercise space, starting on Mother’s Day, Boston’s BlueCross MA will sponsor free bike rides. BlueBike credits will be available to grab each Sunday in honor of national bike month.
Many of these of freebies encourage communities to come together. For example, the city of Boston is again allowing neighborhoods to apply for $750 in funding to put towards putting on a block party. The allocated money would be to spend on providing food, supplies, and activities to throw your classic block party. Interested areas have to apply a month in advance.
Lastly, we have to touch upon where you can get free food. However, this freebie is appropriately dedicated to the healthcare industry. Chipotle’s “Real Food For Real Hero’s” program invites health care professionals to submit an entry to claim a free burrito. You can find the full details here. In total, 100,000 verifired healthcare workers will receive burrito e-cards. Submissions must be completed by Friday, and winners will start to be announced on Monday, May 13.
