Which Team Has the Best Stadium for Food: Boston or Dallas?
With the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, we have to ask: which team has the best stadium for food?
Yes, I realize the comedy in asking this question smack-dab in the middle of the series. As you probably saw in at least one of your social media feeds during Games 1 and 2, fans were paying six-figure amounts for premium seats at TD Garden.
I don’t know if that pattern will continue in Dallas at American Airlines Center, but I know this: Boston and Dallas are elite when it comes to what they bring to the court. What they bring to the concession stand, however? Not really.
The Best Stadium for Food: Boston vs. Dallas
Ready for more comedy? American Airlines Center in Dallas and TD Garden in Boston actually land next to each other on Betway’s ranking of NBA arenas for gameday food and drink. Unfortunately, both land near the bottom of the list.
The Celtics are ranked 27th overall. Hot dogs at TD Garden cost $6.75, and beer costs $1.08 per ounce. In other words, $13 for a 12 oz. beer. The Mavericks are a slot higher, at 26th. Their hot dogs are $5.50, and their beers are $0.75 per ounce.
The Best Stadium for Food: What About the Rest?
You can see the rest of the rankings here, but I’ll tell you the top three. The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Paycom Center is No. 1, followed by the Charlotte Hornets’ Spectrum Center and the Footprint Center, the Phoenix Suns’ home.
It’s not just hot dogs and beers that give an arena a high score, though. Betway’s methodology takes into account other factors, like number of food and beverage stands and fan positivity. Hey, at least TD Garden crushes on game day, right?
