T.S.A. Nabs Massachusetts Man Flying With 15 Cans Of SPAM, Why?
A Worcester man is a big fan of SPAM, not the emails you get too much of, but the canned meat. You see Joel Kaimakani Libed is from Hawaii and our 50th state is known form their love of SPAM. It’s not uncommon to see restaurants there that feature it all types of recipes, from fried rice with pineapples to SPAM burgers.
As they say, “don’t knock it till you fried it”. If you haven’t had SPAM before, then you might not understand why it’s so beloved by the people who do it on the regs. I haven’t had it since my Navy days when the federal budget was running low. We would usually have it as a breakfast meat as a fill in for the more expensive bacon or sausage. It was fine, but I can’t say that I have every had a craving for it.
According to Boston.com Libed performer, singer, and actor who was born and raised in Hawaii. While on tour performing with an Irish band, Libed said, he stopped by the SPAM museum in Minnesota and stocked up on merch like a shirt and mug.
Libed then shows off his new collection of the canned meat, gifted to him by an employee of the museum, ranging in flavors from maple to teriyaki. But the SPAM enthusiast said he was most excited by the “Hawaiian Collector’s Edition” SPAM.
“I was on tour, so I lugged all this SPAM with me for about two and a half weeks,” Libed says in the video.
“By the time I was ready to go home and I packed my bags, and my bag was overweight, I had to take all of this as my carryon,” Libed explains, motioning to the 12 SPAM cans in front of him.
Libed said that despite the somewhat awkward encounter at airport security, the TSA agent who checked his bag was “really freaking cool.”
