Should I Let My Teenage Daughter Get A Hotel Room With Her Friends For The Zach Bryan Concert?
Devin’s daughter is going to see Zach Bryan with a group of friends. Devin lives in New Hampshire, so her daughter wants to get a hotel room so she doesn’t have to drive home after the concert. Devin thinks this is a good idea, but her husband thinks they are too young to get a hotel room without any adults with them
Devin Wants You To Vote On Whether She Should Let Her Daughter Get A Hotel Room After The Zach Bryan Concert
Jonathan: Danielle today for panic button we have a very special one. We have Devin on with us and Devin’s problem can be resolved by the listeners. What’s going on, Devin?
Devin: Hey, so my daughter is going to the Zach Bryan show at Gillette Stadium tomorrow. And she wants to get a hotel with some of her friends.
Danielle: OK, OK.
Jonathan: How old is your daughter?
Devin: My daughter is 17. Her friends are 18. You know they’ve got cars. They’re driving down there. I’m not going.
Danielle: Hmm.
Devin: It’s a big deal for all of us. It’s her first time going to do something big like this alone.
Jonathan: And where do you live?
Devin: I live in New Hampshire.
Jonathan: So it’s better than driving home, yeah.
Danielle: It’s a haul.
Devin: I didn’t think it was such a bad idea that she would want to stay there. However, my husband doesn’t agree.
Jonathan: Is he worried that something’s going to happen to her if they get the hotel room or somebody will invite some boys back or it’ll just be a big party?
Devin: Honestly, I think all of those are concerns of his. They’re kind of a concern of mine too, but I don’t know. I feel like we raised her well.
Danielle: Yeah, sure.
Jonathan: Did you trust the friends that she’s gone with?
Danielle: Yeah, yeah.
Devin: Enough. You know, I just think it’s a worse idea for her to get on the road and come back home late at night.
Jonathan: I can see that because having gone, by the time you get out of there, it’s gonna be like midnight and then driving home too. You’re also dealing with drunks on the road too.
Danielle: By the time they get out of there. Two hours out of the parking lot. Lots of drunks on the road, possibly.
Jonathan: One, I don’t know how would you get back to New Hampshire from Foxborough, but you probably take route one. There’s lots of bars emptying out of that time.
Danielle: I mean. Yeah, having left plenty of concerts at Gillette late at night. It’s it can be dangerous.
Jonathan: So I actually think it’s not a terrible idea. And I will just close out there and this this might be actually be a point in your husband’s favor. I used to stay in hotels. It was like on debate trips and stuff. But there’s only one teacher for like 30 kids, though.
Danielle: Debate?
Jonathan: So it was crazy. We would show each other how to tie our ties, right? Yeah, but regardless, we pretty much did stay in hotels without any real accident. Well, there were some incidents, but they weren’t bad.
Danielle: Some. Oh boy.
Jonathan: Nobody got pregnant. You know well, that’s true. Alright. So that’s the deal. So you agreed that. How many people need to call?
Devin: OK, so my husband and I agreed that if five people call in one way or the other that we will choose that.
Jonathan: OK. Do you think it’s a good idea for Devin’s daughter, 17 years old, to be staying at a hotel overnight in Foxborough?
Danielle: So you’re making the decision.
Jonathan: They’re going to see the Zach Bryan concert tomorrow. Do you think it’s a good idea for a bunch of 17 and 18 year old girls to stay in a hotel by themselves without parental supervision? If enough of you call in and say yes, then that’s what they’ll do. If you say no, that’s what we’ll do.Devin, thank you so much.
Devin: Thank you guys.
