Thomas Rhett had a slight incident with a razor guard while trying to trim his signature beard. As a result, he issued a disclaimer to fans who would see his show that night and wonder about his new look.
Thomas posted a photo of himself on Instagram, and his beard is nearly gone with a closer-than-expected shave. He wrote over the image, "To the folks in the crowd at Country Jam… I accidentally used the wrong guard on my razor. I decided to commit. If you're wondering who the 12-year-old kid is tonight… It's me."
Fans loved the post, and many of his almost five million followers commented on the post. One fan wrote, "Ha ha, I feel the same; I still get carded sometimes lol." Another fan said, "Just seeing this post (a little late). You'll bring lookin' closer to your wife's age. She looks 15 yrs old #naturalbeauty#foreveryoung#yourbetterhalf. I didn't forget how great you are. YOU ROCK!" One more fan commented, "I like the beard like that!"

Rhett has a tight tour of festivals scheduled in July, with dates in Chicago, Pendleton, Oregon, and Wisconsin. He plays Cheyenne Frontier Days on July 27th in Wyoming.
Rhett played the Nissan Stadium stage in Nashville during CMA Fest a few weeks ago. He's played the stage many times in his career.
Thomas loves that artists play CMA Fest for free, and the money raised from the event is used for music education programs nationwide.
He told us backstage before he performed at CMA Fest, "When I was in high school, we had an okay band room, instruments and stuff. But now that my kids are in school, I love knowing that my kids are gonna have a ton of options to choose from."
Rhett added, "It's just such a huge deal to get to play CMA Fest, knowing how much money they are giving back to music education."
He concluded, "Some kid going through a rough time? To me, music is therapy, and there are a lot of kids out there who may be struggling with something that the piano happens to fix internally. Every year, we get to do CMA Fest, which is kind of in the forefront, not just for me but for other artists; we know that we're playing for a bigger cause than just applause."
Thomas Rhett celebrates his 33rd birthday today (3/30) and is also celebrating the first anniversary of his Where We Started album on Saturday (4/1). Thomas reflects on where he and his wife Lauren started over a decade ago.
Rhett told us, "Just kinda looking back at the last decade of our lives … Shoot, 2012, when I was playing 600 shows a year, and Lauren was with me on the tour bus with nine other dudes, it felt like we were never going to get out of that. And my wife, being like, 'Man, how many times have we been to Wisconsin this year?'"
He continued, "I wake up now, and I'm like, we have four children; so much has changed in my career from just success to bigger rooms to getting to do neat collaborations with people. And sometimes you wake up, and you're like, man, today is tough. And you look back at your past, and you're like, yeah, but think about where we were. And I think whether you do music, or whatever you do, I think anyone can look back at their past, and be like man, looking at where we are now, compared to where we were, the future looks pretty bright."
