This homeless man with guitar will warm your heart and make you want to help.
Have you ever walked past a homeless person and held your purse a little tighter? Avoided eye contact? Maybe even crossed the street to avoid an awkward interaction? Some of us are guilty of that behavior. Others ask the question.
That is exactly what Ste Flynn did. He saw a homeless man camped out in a McDonald’s parking lot. The man had a guitar, so Ste asked him to play.
Whoa.
Ste took a video of his interaction. He rolls up to the drive-thru and asks the stranger to play for him. And what happened next will blow your mind. This guy didn’t just play, he sang Dire Straits “Sultan of Swing,” and it was all AMAZING. Ste posted the video on TikTok. The video went viral and racked up more than 11-million views to date and beautifully inspired others to raise money to help the homeless man.
The man in the McDonald’s parking lot is known as “Guitar John” and according to comments on the viral video he can play anything. Once the video started picking up traction, Ste decided to get a little more information about this prodigy, so he went back
Why is he living in a McDonald’s parking lot? Ste went back to ask that question once his video started going viral. Turns out Guitar John is originally from Liverpool, but he’s lived in the Middle East, Spain and most recently, Norway. He lived there with his girlfriend for five years but was deported last October over visa issues. The couple is now living in a car.
A GoFundMe set up for him has received nearly $10-thousand so far.

What would he do with the money? Ste tells us John’s dream is to buy a camper van. He wants to travel around the UK singing his songs for the next 4 years until he can legally go back home to his family.
