Winter Storm to Bring 5 Inches of Snow to Boston Area
A major storm system will cover Southern New England with 2 to 5 inches of snow starting Sunday evening. Rain comes through first on Saturday, kicking off a brutal cold snap that will send temperatures down into single digits next week.
Friday stays clear, with temperatures reaching the mid-30s. By Saturday, clouds roll in as temperatures rise to the mid-40s.
Heavy rain will drench the region late Saturday afternoon, bringing up to half an inch. As it gets colder, the rain turns to snow across Boston by Sunday night.
Coastal areas will get less snow. While the Cape and islands might only see 2 inches, areas further inland should expect heavier amounts.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm’s impact will stick around until Monday. After that, arctic air will push into the region.
