Kane Brown: Songs Not To Miss On His New Album
Kane Brown just released his fourth album, The High Road, today (1/24), including the recently released “Gorgeous.” Kane told us of the new tune, “‘Gorgeous’ is really a heartfelt song if you listen to it word for word. It’s telling you it’s not all about the stuff that you wear, ya know, or anything like that, it’s just about the person you are and the beauty inside you that makes you gorgeous.”
The first verse and chorus of the song lyrics are: “If looks could kill, I’d be six deep / Girl, you’re drop dead, you got me droppin’ to my knees / You’re eleven out of ten from your head down to your feet / Yeah, you’re perfect, as perfect can be.”
“But it ain’t your smile, ain’t your hair, ain’t them diamonds that you wear / Ain’t the way you look tonight that makes me want you / It’s your heart, it’s your mind, it’s what man just can’t design / It’s the beautiful inside that makes you gorgeous.”
Brown’s new album features 18 songs, and it got a good start: in the weeks leading up to the album’s release, he has had hits with “Fiddle In The Band,” and “I Can Feel It.”
The new project has some great songs on it, like the new duet with his wife Katelyn called “Body Talk.” He and Katelyn sound so natural together, and while this song doesn’t quite have the power that “Thank God” does, it holds up, and is a solid love song. Katelyn is a fine singer; hopefully one day she’ll do her own solo work.

Other standout selections on Kane’s The High Road album are:
“Haunted” featuring Jelly Roll
This song stands out for its banjo intro and its groove, which just won’t quit. It seems everything Jelly touches turns to gold and this song is no exception. The subject matter is quite serious, dealing with thinking about taking one’s life. Brown said in interviews that when Jelly heard about the song, he told him that he would do it if Kane didn’t, but the singer assured him he was indeed releasing the powerful song.
“3”
This song is pure nostalgia on Kane’s part as he relates so solidly with the number 3. I also love this song because of its country sound. It’s a great story song and hopefully will become a radio single.
“Do Us Apart” Featuring Katelyn Brown
This song is more like the couple’s huge hit “Thank God.” Another great love song from this married couple with three young kids they love so much to talk about.
“Things We Quit” featuring Brad Paisley
What a country gem. Brad can certainly master traditional country songs, and after you hear this one, you realize that Kane can do the same. I love the lyrics, the beat, and the twangy steel guitar. To me, this song sounds like a Musical Event award winner. Who knew these two could blend together so well? It actually sounds like a classic George Jones song.
All in all, this fourth album from Brown is a winning country music project and is sure to be nominated when country music awards season comes around in the spring with the ACM Awards and the CMT Music Awards.
