Martha’s Vineyard Summer Ferry Bookings Start February 4 for 2025 Season
Starting February 4 at 8 a.m. EST, you can book your summer ferry trips to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket through The Steamship Authority’s online booking system.
Planning to travel between May 13 and October 21, 2025? Circle this date. If you prefer to book by phone or in person, you’ll need to wait until February 11 at 7:30 a.m. EST.
To handle the booking rush, the website places customers in a virtual queue. There’s a cap in place – you’re limited to five reservations per call or mail request, regardless of whether they’re one-way or round trip.
Just taking the ferry on foot? No problem. Just get your ticket at the terminal when you travel – no advance booking needed. This applies to regular ferries heading to both islands.
After feedback from islanders wanting better vehicle access, the ferry service set up different booking windows this year.
Having trouble with your account? Staff are available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. They can help with password and PIN issues, but make sure to check your login info before the booking day arrives.
The service put the system through extensive testing. They’ve also added more phone staff for the busy Martha’s Vineyard booking periods.
Taking lessons from previous issues, they tested the system’s limits. Their virtual waiting room helps manage the rush of customers trying to book.
Vehicle spots for summer fill up fast. This new booking system gives priority to year-round island residents.
