2025 Newport Folk Festival Sells Out In Less Than 60 Minutes — Without Announcing Its Lineup
Tickets for the 2025 Newport Folk Festival sold out in less than a minute on Wednesday, Feb. 5 — without organizers announcing a single artist in the lineup.
Fans who wanted to secure tickets overwhelmed the festival’s online ticketing system when sales opened at 1 p.m., discovering they were shut out from purchasing within seconds. Those who hoped to attend but weren’t able to purchase a ticket can sign up for the waitlist to receive updates by email or text if tickets become available.
Many spoke out about their frustrations on social media, while others sought reseller platforms hoping to snag tickets. In response to the demand, prices on some platforms soared to more than $1,000 per ticket. Festival organizers are urging fans not to buy “speculative tickets” on secondary platforms, since the festival does not honor PDF-generated tickets.
General admission single-day tickets range from $500 to $600. According to The Sporting News, dozens of three-day general admission passes have been selling for between $1,200 and $2,000.
The much-anticipated festival, scheduled for June 25-27 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, is well-recognized for its special guests and standout performances. Past performers who have visited the festival have included legendary artists such as Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, and Paul Simon.
While festival organizers have not released the 2025 performer lineup, those lucky enough to secure their tickets can expect exceptional performers and plenty of unforgettable memories. Visit the festival’s website with up-to-date information when this year’s lineup is released.
