Boston Symphony Orchestra Announces Tanglewood Programs for Summer 2025
Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in the Berkshires, will be the setting for several dynamic musical performances and programs for the summer of 2025. The summer season will feature concerts by the BSO, Boston Pops, and Fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) in the Koussevitzky Music Shed. Recital, chamber music, and Tanglewood Learning Institute (TLI) events will be held in Ozawa Hall and the Linde Center for Music and Learning.
The BSO’s summer programming series will showcase prominent performing artists, including Boston native James Taylor with special guest Tiny Habits. Taylor is scheduled to perform in the Shed on July 3 and July 4 at 8 p.m., the latter which will be followed by fireworks. Tickets for the July 3 performance went on sale on Jan. 29, but the July 4 show is sold out.
Additional highlights of the summer at Tanglewood include the following:
- Barenaked Ladies will appear with special guests Sugar Ray and Fastball on July 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.
- Acclaimed conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen will lead performances of the BSO and the TMC Orchestra (TMCO) for his first appearance at Tanglewood since 1985 on July 13 and 14.
- A must-see 30th anniversary celebration for BSO conductor Keith Lockhart on Aug. 22 will feature a host of favorite pops guest artists, including Lynn Ahrens, Jason Danieley, Ben Folds, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bernadette Peters, and Time for Three.
- “A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor” returns on June 21, along with NPR’s “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” with Peter Sagal and Bill Kurtis on Aug. 28.
- The 2024 Kennedy Center honoree and 13-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt will close the summer season at the Shed on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. with special guest Jimmie Vaughan and The Tilt-A-Whirl Band.
