Massachusetts kicked off its 2025 camping season bookings on Wednesday, February 19, opening up spots at state parks across the state.

Using ReserveAmerica's booking system, campers can grab spots up to four months ahead of their planned stay at any of 25 parks. The camping season runs from spring through fall, lasting from April to October.

"One of our goals at DCR is to get more families outside and exploring our state's beautiful natural resources," said DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo in a statement on Mass.gov. "We know fresh air and the outdoors play a critical role, not only for our physical health but our mental health."

Last year saw over 50,000 camping stays. Options range from basic tent sites to full RV hookups, with yurts and cabins available for those wanting more comfort.

While same-day bookings are available until 2 p.m., people can't just show up without reservations. The new reservation process aims to make booking much faster.

Mohawk Trail State Forest got a $1.4 million upgrade. Other parks received various improvements to make visits more enjoyable.

Campers can bring their dogs if they show proof of rabies shots and keep them on leashes. However, pets aren't allowed in cabins, yurts, or beach areas.

Mt. Greylock and Washburn Island need direct email contact at dcr.campinginfo@mass.gov for bookings. Peddocks Island spots will be available once Boston Harbor Islands announces its ferry schedule.

While groups can gather during the day in designated areas, overnight camping requires everyone to be listed on the reservation. This rule helps keep check-ins smooth and maintains campsite order.
